What I like most about this game is that there is no rush. It’s a calming management game about dying and learning to say goodbye to your cherished friends. You play as Stella, a newly appointed ferrymaster to the deceased. Spiritfarer is one part farming, one part adventure, and five parts an emotional experience. Slowly you regain color, music, and new abilities that let you further explore the forgotten beauty of the land. After falling into a faded reality devoid of color or hope, you make your way through the grayness.
The story is about a hopeful young girl dealing with internal pain. It’s hard to put into a category, so the easiest way to describe it is a serene and evocative journey through moving art. With snappy dialogue, memorable characters, and a perfectly retro soundtrack, it feels like a journey into the past while looking toward the future. Featuring crisp pixel graphics, robots, and a Switch Exclusive side story, this game is absolutely worth playing. With turn-based combat, puzzles, and delightful dialogue, this is an RPG adventure you’ll want to play all the way through. Each character has their own unique style and abilities that you discover throughout the story. In this 2D paper world, you play as a bee, a beetle, and a moth that take on the role of heroes. Bug Fables feels like a Paper Mario knock-off in all of the best ways. If you’re a fan of the original Paper Mario games this is the adventure game you need in your life right now. You will also soon be able to purchase the sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong which hasn’t yet arrived on the Nintendo Switch. You can buy Hollow Knight at the Nintendo eShop for $15 right now. It’s a challenging game set in a beautifully sad world that draws you in and holds on tight. You play as a nameless knight that must traverse the ancient catacombs of the Hallownest, fighting bosses and unlocking new abilities along the way. It’s set in a plague-infested kingdom of insects known as the Hallownest. In this case, meaning both awesome and mysteriously moist. Hollow Knight is a beautiful Metroidvania action-adventure game that can only really be described as “dank”. But of the titles I did end up playing, these are the best ones. I don’t have unlimited time in my life, however, so I haven’t played an overwhelming number of Switch games. But if I’m looking for something new and interesting, I will always flock to the selection of indie games for Nintendo Switch. Sure, AAA titles are great and I will play absolutely any games like Zelda that Nintendo can throw at me. There are a lot of good games for Nintendo Switch, but one of my favorite aspects of the console is how many great indie games are available.
